Old Loughtonians women’s seconds produced an outstanding display which threatened to end the unbeaten record of East Division One South leaders Bedford 2s.
Loughts' Kareena Myers and Chloe Stack used their pace in attack to create a number of early opportunities and a couple of penalty corners.
Zoe Wright drove Loughts forward from the back, as Miranda Baldwin controlled the middle of the park and wing backs Kim Grave and Olivia Ross-Bell advanced at every opportunity.
Four minutes before the break Loughts took the lead as a penalty corner strike from Chloe Stack was deflected home via a Bedford defender’s stick.
The second half saw player of the match Agnes Briscoe work tirelessly, as did Elis Halil whose defending from the front was critical in thwarting Bedford’s advances.
But 12 minutes from time a long through ball found a Bedford forward free on the edge of the D to finish with a forehand shot to level.
Annie Wade-Jones in the Loughts goal had to be at her brilliant best to keep the score level with a superb save late on as the spoils were shared.
Loughts extended their unbeaten run to five games in the process and they return in early January away at Letchworth 1s.
The W3s also played well against a strong Braintree 1s team, taking the lead after 20 minutes courtesy of a strike from Cerys Edwards.
Braintree fought back and equalised just before half time and took a 2-1 lead early in the second half.
But Melanie Hau secured a 2-2 draw and a well deserved point with just five minutes to play.
The W4s travelled to play Old Southendians 3s with a depleted squad and lost 4-0, while the M2s crunch fixture against Cambridge University 1s was postponed.
The M3s had four Padfield men in action and played very well away against Bedford 2s, but lost 2-1.
But the M4s had an excellent 3-0 win against Romford 1s, while Loughts 5s Willows lost 2-0 to Crostyx 3s in their derby.
The M6s Willows Woodsmen lost 3-2 away against Saffron Walden 5s and the M7s Willows Rangers suffered 6-0 defeat away at the hands of Witham 5s.
But the Supervets drew 2-2 against Surbiton Magnets to ensure a point.
