Ilford AC sent a team of 18 young athletes to the first Eastern Young Athletes League (EYAL) match of the year in Ware, Hertfordshire.
Each event had two selected runners scoring points for the team along with races with non-scorers who were hoping to gain valuable experience.
Two runners competed in the U13 girls' age group as Ruby Moffat Virak came fifth in the 100m and sixth in the 200m and competed in the long jump. B string runner Nayla Mills Ugoh was sixth in the 100m and fifth in the 200m and also took part in the long jump.
For the U15 girls, Stacey Amaniampong was fifth in the 100m, fourth in the 200m and competed in the long jump as a non-scorer, as newcomer Kenina Nkurumah came fifth in the 100m, sixth in the 200m and fourth in the long jump, missing third place by just two centimetres.
The busiest athlete of the weekend was Anika Sharma in the U17 age group, after competing in the mini marathon the day before.
She came fourth in the 300m and fifth in the 800m, breaking the three-minute barrier for the first time, and also competed in the long jump as a non-scorer.
U13 boys Zane Kiyani and Ibrahim Khan competed on the track for the club for the first time, with Zane fourth in the 100m, sixth in the 1500m and competing in the long jump as Ibrahim ran as a non-scorer in the 100m and was fifth in the 1500m and sixth in the long jump.
The standout performances of the day were by the U15 boys' team as Sam Horsley won the 800m in a personal best and come fifth in the 300m. Aron Berhe also ran a personal best to come second in the B string and fourth in the 300m.
Danika Hennadige had a great run to come second in the B 200m after falling in the 100m and also competed in the long jump, while Jaydan Roberts Edwards was third in the 100m, fourth in the 200m and competed in the long jump.
Jaydon Mcdermott and Luke Thake also showed their range over a number of events after competing in a recent pentathlon, with strong performances in the 100m, 1500m and shot.
Unlucky Damien Amaniampong suffered an injury in the 100m stopping him competing in other events, but he showed great promise for the future finishing in just over 13 seconds.
The second and third victory of the day came in the B string sprints where Ian Johnson ran 11.8 in the 100m and 23.5 in the 200m and was backed up by Mohammed Zergouat, who was fifth in the 100m and sixth in the 200m.
Finally, in the middle distance races, further PBs were run by James Thake, who came fourth in the 800m and 300m, and Samuel Crane for sixth in the 1500m.
The annual May Day Bank Holiday 10-mile road race attracted over 230 entrants on the usual undulating but fast rural course from Witham Rugby Club.
