Old Loughtonians men bounced back from successive defeats to beat University of Bristol 4-0 on Sunday.
Having conceded early goals in recent weeks, Loughts began well to quash the spirit in a young home side.
And when a sweeping move from the back found Euan Gilmour in the second quarter, he needed no invitation to stroke the ball into the far corner.
Harvey Edwards got in on the act with a powerful reverse-stick finish from the top of the D before half-time but coach Lee Ible emphasised the need to keep the ball moving from side to side and to eliminate the opposition's long ball threat.
Bristol came back with a vengeance in the third quarter, but Loughts held firm with dogged determination as new goalkeeper Jack Tranter made a stunning short corner save when the ball was heading for the top left corner.
The last quarter looked as if it could develop into a very close encounter but Gilmour removed that threat with another outstanding goal from the left and James Thomas iced the cake in the 65th minute as he cut in from the left to beat the flailing Bristol keeper.
The twos beat Chelmsford 1-0 in the East Premier after Martyn Lear's cross was deflected into his own net by a visiting defender, as Barney Tedder produced some excellent saves for Loughts.
But the threes lost 4-2 at Brentwood and the fours went down 6-1 at Redbridge & Ilford.
All four of the Willows teams took three points, as the fives beat Havering threes 11-1 and the sixes saw off Braintree fours 5-1.
The sevens beat Saffron Walden sixes 4-2 with goals from Devindra Singh, Sam Kendrick, Kiran de Souza and Rehan Sheikh as the eights were awarded a 5-0 walkover against Braintree fives. The Supervets drew 2-2 at Epsom Old School.
Loughts women returned from their long trip to Harleston Magpies twos with the points after a 3-0 win.
Player of the Match Chloe Joarder and defensive partner Stevie Southall were always in control to thwart the hosts in a scoreless first half.
And eight minutes into the second half Loughts won a penalty corner which Adele Sammons slapped into the D, before India Blake found Stevie Southall for a calm finish on the reverse.
A second goal came on 55 minutes with Emily Holmes feeding Katie Gleeson in the left hand channel for a superb backhand cross which skipper Tash Patient turned home from close range.
And the contest was effectively ended with nine minutes left as Patient’s reverse dink found Holmes free inside the D where a sublime first touch took the ball away from the keeper and she finished with aplomb.
The twos won 3-1 at Hertford after an impressive defensive display, resolute goalkeeping from Alisha Evans and goals from Kayuki Sen, Kareena Myers and Cerys Edwards.
Dottie Blake was the standout player of the match for her many incisive forward runs.
The threes scored five first-half goals in an 8-0 win over Brentwood as Karen Leach bagged a hat-trick, player of the match Elis Halil and Jess Donnelly each scored twice and Ellie Joyce also struck.
But the fours lost 3-0 at Southend twos and the fives were pipped 2-1 by Brentwood Academy.
Sunday saw the U18 girls draw 1-1 with Hampstead & Westminster, as the boys won 3-1 at Surbiton with goals from Caspian Coupe, Nathan Gladman and Jack Moffat.
Gladman and Archie Crowley have been included in the England U18 squad for the upcoming European Championships.
The U16 boys saw their match with Crostyx abandoned because of the weather but won 2-1 at Saffron Walden in the Tier 2 League.
The U14 boys romped to an 18-0 win at Bedford in an uneven Tier 1 fixture.
