A "vicious" attack left a man fighting for his life after being stabbed multiple times in Ilford.
Abubakar Walad, of Green Lane, Ilford, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday (September 27), where he was sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to Section 18 grievous bodily harm (GBH).
The court heard that police were called to an address in Ilford on February 10 following reports that a man had been stabbed multiple times.
A 28-year-old man was stabbed more than eight times, causing "life-threatening" injuries, the court was told.
He was given life saving first aid at the scene, before being taken to Royal London Hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
The 28-year-old then underwent emergency surgery and was later placed in an induced coma, remaining at hospital for a while after.
He has since moved out of London to continue his recovery.
After Walad was identified as a suspect, officers used cell site data to track him to an address in Luton, where he was arrested on February 11.
He was interviewed, charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.

"Abubakar Walad conducted a vicious, sustained attack against the victim and has now been brought to justice thanks to the hard work and dedication of all officers involved in the investigation.
"I would like to commend the victim for his determination to survive and his courage in supporting the investigation all the way through until the sentencing.
"I wish him the best and hope he can now regain his independence and move forward."
