Thurlow Gardens Hainault 'attack': Boy stabbed to death

East Area commander Stuart Bell gave the tragic update in a statement from the scene this morning (April 30) after a man carrying a sword was earlier arrested.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police had been called to Thurlow Gardens just before 7am this morning with reports of a vehicle having been driven into a house. 

When they arrived at the scene, they were faced with several casualties and reports of people having been stabbed. 

Five people have been taken to hospital, three members of the public, and two Metropolitan Police officers.

He said: "It is with great sadness that I confirm that one of those injured in the incident, a 13-year-old boy, has died from their injuries.

"He was taken to hospital after being stabbed and sadly died a short while after."

"We know now that during the incident, five people were injured; Three members of the public and two of my local officers who were responding to the call.

"Two of those members of the public remain in hospital, thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"The two Met Police officers are also currently in hospital with stab wounds.

"Both require surgery and have significant injuries but we believe at this stage they are not life threatening."

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene after being Tasered by police, around 22 minutes after the initial report came in.
