A serial rapist has been jailed after being found to have carried out a "campaign of abuse" against the same woman.

Hafiz Ahmad, 29, of Redbridge was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment on Thursday (March 28) at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Ahmad was convicted at the same court on October 11 in 2023 after being found guilty of rape and making threats to kill.

This comes after a woman came forward on November 13 in 2020 to report she had been raped by a man on four occasions.

The woman told police about how she suffered a campaign of abuse which started in 2018. 

Sexual Offences Officer PC Emma Porter, east London police, said: "It hasn’t been easy for her as she received pressure from the defendant to withdraw her allegations.

"However she continued to support the prosecution and this ultimately resulted in Hafiz Ahmad being convicted and jailed,” PC Porter added.

The Metropolitan Police arrested Ahmad, who carried out the attacks at his house, on November 14 in 2020, a day after the woman came forward.

Text messages showed the woman had confronted Ahmad, the defendant, about the attacks.

The 29-year-old was chaged in May 2022 after the case was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Police said they were charging 40% more rape and sexual offences cases than 2023.

"This includes more than 500 serious sexual offences including 200 rapes," the force added.
