Emergency services scrambled to respond to a fire on a busy road in Ilford.
Twenty-five firefighters in four fire engines from Ilford and Barking fire stations attended a fire at a shop and housing in Ilford Lane today (January 11).
The incident was called in to the London Fire Brigade at 2.13pm today and was under control by 3.01pm.
Half of a loft extension was damaged in the blaze but no injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade confirmed that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
A concerned local said: "[..] there is an incident in Ilford Lane active now but no one seems to know what is going on".
Facebook page Ilford Lane claimed the road was closed earlier today whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.
