A woman has been jailed after police exposed her repeat shoplifting in Ilford town centre.
Emma Aldington, of Albert Road, was sentenced on January 8 at Barkingside Magistrates Court to six months' imprisonment for theft offences.
She was also handed a £154 fine after breaching her community protection notice.
Police discovered Aldington's thefts after the Ilford town centre policing team worked with local businesses to tackle theft offences in their stores.
After reviewing CCTV and several reports, the 36-year-old was identified as a persistent offender.
Aldington was arrested on January 6 by plain clothed officers from the Ilford town centre team.
She was then searched and found to be in possession of items she had taken by means of theft from a nearby store just ten minutes beforehand.
