The driver of a car involved in a “hit and run” crash in which a woman and her two dogs were killed is yet to be found.
Police were called to Manford Way in Chigwell just after 5pm yesterday evening (December 22) to reports of a crash.
A car, believed to be a white Seat Leon, had collided with a pedestrian who was walking with two dogs.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The two dogs were also killed in the crash.
The woman’s family have been informed of her death and are being supported by specialist officers.
Police said that the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene. A Seat Leon was found close to the crash site shortly afterwards.
No arrests have been made but police enquiries are ongoing to trace the registered owner of the car.
Detectives are now appealing for information about the crash and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information and any witnesses yet to speak with police are asked to call 101, quoting reference CAD 5312/22dec. To remain anonymous please contact Crimestoppers.
