Redbridge performers are being encouraged to compete in a talent competition to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The Redbridge's Got Talent audition competition is being run by the Ilford Business Improvement District (BID) and is open until April 15.

The audition competition will determine who performs at the inIlford coronation celebration event on May 6 in Ilford town centre from 12pm to 7pm.

At the coronation celebration, first, second and third place will then be decided.

First place will receive £300 to spend in Ilford, second place £200 and third £150.

Performers who are residents in Redbridge and aged five and above are welcome to apply.

The multiple categories for performances include acrobatic acts, alternative dance acts, magicians, choirs, puppeteers, comedians, DJs, dog acts, ventriloquists, singers and musicians.

Cyril Bekoe, manager of Ilford BID, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to come together, showcase the amazing talent in Redbridge, have fun, enjoy a feast of entertainment, and celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

"We truly want the community to get involved whether it is taking part or simply coming out to enjoy an amazing community day showcasing the best talents in Redbridge."

Mark Baigent, corporate director of regeneration and culture at Redbridge Council, said: "There is a fantastic line-up of activities planned for King Charles’ coronation celebrations in Ilford.

"We are excited to welcome people from across the borough to join in the talent show and enjoy music, food and physical attractions like a zip-wire, assault course and climbing wall.

"This is another great partnership with Ilford BID to involve the local community and businesses in a fun day for everyone."

Whilst at the coronation celebration, a virtual coronation event trail will also be located at selected stops around the town centre to visit, positioned so that families can discover hidden parts of Ilford.
