A stolen car was found crashed in the early hours of this morning (December 29).
Police were called to reports of a damaged car near the Redbridge roundabout in Ilford at 12.18 am.
The car was found on the verge of the slip road off the A406 at the junction with the A12.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police arranged for the abandoned car to be recovered.
There was no trace of the driver and no other vehicles were involved.
When you have a police vehicle and crash cushion with fully illuminated warning lights blocking the entire off slip due to a serious RTC being recovered - why wouldn’t you mount the paved verge to drive pass?! Ludicrous manoeuvre, driver reported. #TDJ @metpoliceuk pic.twitter.com/Uj0CrJk9Is

It was later established that the car had been stolen from outside a house in Tower Hamlets on Christmas Eve (December 24).
Police say enquiries are ongoing.
