Leyton Orient came from behind to beat Bromley and extend their unbeaten run in the National League to six matches, while also returning to the top of the table.

John Goddard’s goal late in the first half gave the visitors the lead, but Jobi McAnuff and Josh Koroma netted three minutes apart before the hour mark to turn things around.

And Macauley Bonne added another goal to his tally as Justin Edinburgh’s men picked up three points to climb above Wrexham.

A minutes silence was well observed by the Breyer Group Stadium crowd and there was an early mix-up in the Bromley defence between Roger Johnson and David Gregory, before the keeper tidied up on four minutes.

Dean Brill then snatched the ball away from the feet of Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe at the other end on six minutes, while Joe Quigley saw a low shot blocked by Marvin Ekpiteta.

But a foul on James Dayton 20 yards out gave O’s a free-kick chance on 12 minutes, only for the effort to hit the wall before Gregory smothered the loose ball.

McAnuff had a shot blocked and then saw Craig Clay fire the rebound just wide, before the Jamaican picked out Koroma in space on the edge of the box and the young forward curled his shot just wide.

The same pair linked up again on 27 minutes, with McAnuff taking on his man and forcing Gregory into a save.

Richard Brindley fired a free-kick into the wall for Bromley on the half-hour mark, then saw a dangerous cross cleared by Josh Coulson, before Myles Judd was booked for a foul on Ogedi-Uzokwe.

And Bromley broke the deadlock four minutes before the interval when Goddard’s free-kick flew straight into the back of Brill’s net.

Ekpiteta limped off to be replaced by Dan Happe, but O’s went close to an equaliser when Dale Gorman picked out Bonne in the box, but the striker could not direct the ball goalwards.

Gorman then went close in the third minute of stoppage time, bending a shot just past the past to end a frustrating first half for the hosts.

Happe had to produce a timely tackle to deny Goddard four minutes after the restart, while Dayton dragged a shot wide from 20 yards at the other end.

But O’s were level on 56 minutes with a stunning strike from McAnuff, who placed a 20-yard free-kick up and over the Bromley defensive wall and into the top corner of Gregory’s net.

And the hosts took the lead just three minutes later when Happe’s clearance found Bonne, who found strike partner Koroma to work some space for himself and fire into the roof of the net.

James Brophy replaced Gorman with a quarter of an hour remaining and O’s went close to a third moments later as Bonne found Koroma in the box, but he put the ball just wide of the target.

O’s did not have to wait much longer to extend their lead, though, as Bonne pounced to fire into the roof of the net wheen McAnuff’s shot was parried by Gregory ke it 3-1.

Brill kept out George Porter’s deflected shot on 80 minutes, as Bromley looked for a way back into the match, and Marc-Anthony Okoye fired over from distance before Jack Holland headed wide.

O’s went close again themselves as late substitute James Alabi teed up Koroma in stoppage time and the young striker fired over.

But they had done enough for victory and as Wrexham could only manage a 1-1 draw at lowly Maidenhead, that meant Orient returned to the summit.
