LYONS (B.E.M.), Hilda Lily It is with sadness that the family announce the passing of Hilda, a much loved and hugely treasured mother, grandmother and great grandmother affectionately known as The Great One. At 103 years old, Hilda's was a life well lived, having received recognition for her services to charities over the years - most notably the Redbridge Dippers swimming club - and was awarded a British Empire Medal for this. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday 9th April, surrounded by friends and family in Whipps Cross Hospital after a short illness. Her funeral will be at GreenAcres, Epping, at 1 pm on Friday 3rd May. Hilda requests no flowers, but welcomes donations to the British Heart Foundation, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
