Purewal Jagdev Singh Jagdev Singh Purewal died aged 87 on 28 January 2024. He was the beloved husband of Balbir Kaur Purewal, father of Parwinder and Manjit and Baba-ji (grandfather) to Sandeep, Arran and Joe. He died unexpectedly at the Singh Sabha London East (Seven Kings) Gurdwara, a place that brought him peace and joy. The youngest of 12, he moved from India to the UK in 1962, fostering education and community engagement. He helped establish many Gurdwaras and community centres in East London, and he was heavily involved in numerous councils and charities. His dedication was recognised with the many awards he received in the UK and India. He received a Doctorate from the University of East London for his work supporting Asian women, mental health and his community work. A proud man with a big heart, he lived a life of service, always ready to help. A remarkable individual, he leaves behind a legacy of education, community, and love. Rest in peace, husband, dad, Baba-ji. Funeral details: Antim Darshan and Ardas at Singh Sabha Gurdwara, 722 High Road, Ilford, IG3 8SX on Tuesday 13th February at 12 midday. Antim at Forest Park Crematorium, Forest Park, Ilford, IG6 3HP at 2pm. Langar and Bhog at Singh Sabha Gurdwara from 3pm.
