BETTY RAY LEY 1931 – 2019 It is with deep regret that the family of Betty Ray Ley (nee Sykes) share the news of her passing on the 10th August 2019 at Queen’s Hospital, Romford after a short illness. She was aged 88. She was a devoted wife of 57 years, to Charlie, caring mother of John and Tim, and grandmother of six — Tom, Katie, Chris, Jack, Charlie and Harry. Born in Leeds, Betty was a proud Yorkshire woman but moved south to marry Charlie in 1955. She absolutely loved her bowls, both at Ilford & District Indoor Bowls Club, in Newbury Park, and at St Chads Bowls Club in Chadwell Heath, and will be remembered for her humour and friendship to many. Her Funeral Service will be held at Forest Park Crematorium, Forest Road, Barkingside on Tuesday 3rd September 2019 at 1.30 pm. The Wake will follow at Fairlop Waters Country club from 2.30 pm, for those who wish to pay their respects. Flowers will be presented by the Family but if individuals wish to make a donation, a box will be supplied and will be split between The Down’s Syndrome Association and Alzheimer’s Society.
